I took yesterday off from the gym, ate over my calorie limit. Had many more carbs that usual. I actually feel thinner today. Not so bloated. Normally, I eat lots of protein, vegetables, etc...My stomach is flatter too.
Any explanation? Thanks.

Basically, your body does what it wants. There are more ways to retain water than just carbs. That day off from the gym and being more lenient with your diet was basically a break for you physically and mentally. This may have lowered your cortisol so it released some of the water.
And...I slept better last night. Interesting.

I think that carbs actually do have an effect on serotonin production. Many body builders will do dry carb up before a show. Some say it makes then look leaner and tighter. I not sure how true this is.

I've found that my perception of thinness on any given bears al.ost no correlation to what the scale says.
