Go to weight loss center and have to lose weight before surgery

The surgery center in my town has a conference every so often to speak on weight loss surgery. I remember the doctors there saying that it's a process. They lower your carbs to 90g a day for a period of time and expect to see some loss from you. They then lower it to 45g a day for another period of time and expect more loss. The last stage is under 20g a day (which is ketosis) for a certain period of time leading up to a surgery date. You need to start your process now if you want to get that surgery. Go ahead and get strict with yourself about logging your daily food and drinks. Make sure that you understand that you must log every item that goes into the preparation and enjoyment of your food such as spices, marinades, gravies, dressings, condiments, etc. Everything counts because most everything has a calorie, carb, fat, protein, and sodium. And don't forget those drinks that you take for granted because your just grabbing a swig or glass with no thought. They most all have lots of sugar which is carbs. Carbs will be your enemy, so must truthfully track everything. If you eat carbs, make them count. Don't waste them on drinks or desserts. Eat healthy steamed veggies, but be careful to measure so those carbs don't go above your goal for the day. Hope this helps some. I was considering surgery for a short time there, so I went to a lot of conferences and met with doctors. I was inspired to do it on my own instead. I started here on MFP in 2014 and lost 120lbs in 1 year practicing extreme low carbing. All was fine until I was diagnosed with AFIB which interrupted my journey to continue losing. Instead I started rapidly gaining due to both the side effects of my heart meds and the fact that persistent AFIB is no joke. It was a constant heart racing that kept me breathless and dizzy. Shot my weight up crazy fast! It was that way for me for 4 years. Docs tried different meds and performed several procedures on my heart, but nothing got it to stay in normal rhythm. Finally I had a pacemaker put in this past March. Amazing what a change has come over me! I've now lost 77lbs in these last 14 weeks. I practice both low carbing and higher protein in my daily diet. It can be done without surgery. But all due respect to those choosing surgery. It's a rough road for many sometimes, so be knowledgeable of all the pitfalls there may be with that choice.
