Cycling with a child in child seat

Hi, I cycle to school (and back) with my kids. My youngest is about 22kg (50lb) and is in a seat on the back of my bike. So for half of my cycling daily, I'm carrying a lot of extra weight, which takes a good load more exertion.
Is there a way to factor this in using the normal settings within mfp? Without a hrm?
Thanks

How hilly is the ride?
If the terrain is relatively flat the only real increase in energy expended is during acceleration.....bikes are insanely efficient machines and, unless you're climbing hills, there is not a strong correlation between weight and energy expended.
To really get a handle on it you'd install a power meter on the bike to measure your wattage but unless you were training for some type of cycling event it would be an expensive way to measure your energy expenditure.1
