I save anywhere from 100-250 calories for a late night snack. I simply do not sleep well on an empty stomach! I'll have kid's cereal, ice cream, a big pretzel, fruit, nuts, whatever.

On days I don't manage to save enough calories for a proper snack and I'm not really hungry, I'll have a square or two of dark chocolate (no more than 70 or 80 cals) with a cup of tea.

For situations where you're just bored/emotional and not really hungry, I 'll have a diet soda, flavored hot tea, or maybe chew some sugarless gum. If that doesn't help, I brush my teeth.

Make sure you aren't eating too low cal or over restricting foods and aren't actually hungry. If that's the case, then eat something

Yep, save calories. Sometimes I don't want them, but I try to always have them available if I do need 'em. Also make sure now to radically undereat during the day--i.e. if you've still got a huge deficit after dinner (say bigger than what MFP tells you should be your deficit) then of course your body is going to want to be fed.

It is always true that when you over eat for the day, you ate the unnecessary calories last, e.g., late in the day.

If you know you will be hungry right before bed, you have to plan for it. Or, you can train yourself out of it. Switch to herbal tea, for example.

Agreed, I save calories. I kind of have this setup where I do first dinner and second dinner. I just eat one portion of dinner at dinner time, and another portion later in the evening before I go to bed. Feels very hobbit-y, and I'm the right height for it.

    I like it!
Hobbits have their eating schedules perfected, right?
