Rest reminder

I teach fitness classes. I was teaching back to back tonight and one woman attempted to do both after not exercising for weeks. I had to stop the class and send her home bc her form was off, she was unable to keep up, but demanded she continue to workout. She burned out 3 mins after the conversation. Reminder that rest is key.

What type of class? You did the right thing by sending her home.0

Good on you for telling her to rest. I'm typically good about making myself rest (I tend to get mild colds if I don't), but have a friend who does a good job of keeping me accountable if I appear to be drifting too far from that. I do the same with her.0

I’ve had to call 911 numerous times because of people like that.
One guy was off for 4 weeks. He came in after a long overnight flight and decided he had to make up for lost time by doing an hour of cardio, then an hour lifting weights. Then he went into the hot tub for 30 minutes. When he tried to get out, he passed out on the pool deck. We had the kind of relationship where, as we were waiting for the paramedics and he explained what he had done, I told him he was a dumbass and if he ever did that again, I would leave him at the bottom of the pool.7 -
OP, it seems this isn’t so much about rest as it is about pacing oneself appropriately, especially after a break. I appreciate your concerns about form and your keeping an eye on her. Do be careful who you call out and how you do it for someone “not able to keep up.” I’m sure you don’t want to embarrass or shame someone for “trying,” Please offer modifiers for anyone who needs them.5

HIIT followed by a weightlifting class. I wasn’t even going to participate myself in the second class.0 -

That strikes me as being the wrong way around to do that combination even if you're healthy. Doing weights when tired is EXACTLY how you get injured.3 -

Well yes; clearly you didn't have a choice. But this lady did. And she seems to have chosen... poorly... at every level0
