I am going to be starting this today and have no idea what to expect out of it but we will be doing a 5k in October and I don't want to walk the whole thing :) my question is when you log this in your exercise what do you log it as?

I created an exercise (C25K) and record my calories burned per my heart rate monitor. I make notes in the exercise field to notate what week/day I've completed.

This. Or if you don't have a HRM, record the number of minutes walking and number of minutes jogging individually based on the speed choices in the database. Just remember that the calorie burns that the database gives are often inflated so only eat back about 50% of them.

I recently finished c25k having started in mid June. It is a really good programme I'm sure you will enjoy it and be running in time for your October 5k!

I just logged as running 30 mins at the slowest speed for the first few weeks. Once the longer runs started around week 6, I upped the speed I used to log the run. I also have a heart rate monitor so I could adjust the calories to the right amount. The calorie burn from my heart rate monitor was about 300 at the start and increased to about 400 for 30mins running. I am a 5ft 3 and 70kg, so the monitor estimate seems reasonable (I was about 74kg at the start of the C25k). The estimate MFP gives for running a given speed is always higher than what the heart rate monitor says. I don't eat back all of my exercise calories either, probably only about half depending on how hungry I feel :)

    Happy running!

Are you using an app to track your runs? Many of those show a calorie burn total.

I'm using the c25k app by RunDouble.

Forgot to add: SLOW DOWN! &
