HRM not working when inverted! help!

I have the Polar FT4 and while I was going some yoga poses today, I noticed that almost every time I'm bent over or even in a plank pose, it reads "check heart rate transmitter" or just says 00 as my HR. When I stand back up, it says it's fine and goes back to a normal number. Does this happen to anyone else? Any ideas on how to fix it? I don't have any trouble with any high impact cardio, just when I'm bent over at the waist and sometimes in a plank. Any advice would be great!

Thanks!
Jessa

The transmitter probably just comes away from full contact. I put mine under the bottom edge of my sports bra to keep it in place, try that! :)

The only suggestion I would have is don't use it during yoga. HRM's or only reliable for calorie burns when doing steady state cardio. It will be way off for circuits, yoga, and strength training. The only benefit there would be to know your HR, which could be good for gauging recovery time, but ignore the cals it says you burned.

I had one that didn't work whenever I did the INSANITY workout...especially when I was bent over.
I actually sent it back to the mfr, and tried 2 new watches and 2 new transmitters. It works better, but still goes out when I'm upside down.

You don't need an HRM for yoga. It's really meant for cardio, like running, walking, biking. You're going to get bogus readings for yoga because it's more like strength training and stretching....there's no correlation between your heartbeat and calories burned for those activities so the HRM can't give you an accurate calorie estimate.

It's actually the yoga poses in the Insanity Cardio Recovery workout that I'm having issues with. Good tips about the stretches. Thanks for the help!
