Atkins bars, disgusting?

So I was at Walmart the other day and decided to pick up some protein bars or something I could eat at work real quick without a lot of hassle. So I picked up some Atkins bars because they seemed reasonable enough. I got the chocolate chip cookie dough bars, and figured they'd be alright. So the next day I'm at work and I try to take a bite and it tastes so awful I just have to stop. Then I read the ingredients and it said it had glycerine and a LOT of artificial sweetener. For a few hours after eating it I felt sick, but I have been known to have this reaction to artificial sweet stuff.
Does anyone eat and like these, or am I the only one who can just not even stomach them? All the reviews online seem to have been favorable towards them, but I just want to make sure I'm not the only one.

I follow the Atkins plan, so, yeah, I eat them every day. Cookie dough isn't my favorite, but I don't think it's horrible. I don't eat foods made with sugars, so I guess I'm used to sugar substitute. Of course, I'm not allergic to sweeteners, so it wouldn't effect me like it did you....
The Atkins bars are not cheap. Curious as to why you didn't pick up a Zone or Balance bar? They are much more affordable.
To each his own, I guess.

I usually go with Cliff Bars! Possibly a better alternative depending on your goals:)

Oh ya, had chocolate chip, and I hated them.
    Then I found Quest bars.
Go find Quest bars - they are good. Chocolate chip cookie dough done right, high protein, low carb.

    You can thank me later.

I eat the dark chocolate decadence one and it's okay. Definitely try Luna, Zone, Balance, or Larabars. They're awesome. Also, Special K makes some awesome nut/chocolate bars with 10g protein.

I tried them, but alas, I react poorly to sugar alcohols, leading to an eruption of Mt. Myanus. I tried Quest bars and they're good on my stomach and have a lot more protein and fiber. The only downside is that they're kinda expensive. Sometimes GNC does BOGO for Quest bars and I try to snatch them then. My favorite flavors are coconut cashew, strawberry cheesecake, and cinnamon bun.

I LOVE the ThinkThin bars. No, I didn't buy them because of their name. I bought them because they use natural ingredients (or claim to) and are high in protein as well as being gluten free. It's 20G of protein per bar, which I think is a very nice amount. I haven't had any bad reactions to these bars either.

If you are willing to make your own, you should definitely try. It'll be cheaper too, and you can experiment with flavors.

The one I liked had coconut in it but they seem to have discontinued that particular one. They do have a couple of others with coconut though. I'm not fond of chocolate chip anything. I also like fruit flavors so unless it's a particular type chocolate that I'm fond of I don't normally eat much chocolate anything.

I've ate a couple please I'm on a low(er) carb diet but every single time I have one, I feel sick to my stomach. I don't think they agree with me at all. Instead, I've been getting Special K protein bars and shakes, GNC Lean protein shakes and Quest protein bars. They probably have their fair share of chemicals but at least they *feel* healthier.

I've tried Atkins, Think Thin, Pure Protein and didn't like any of them. I like Quest the best followed by Power Crunch bars. Those are the only two I buy now. Nogii bars are good, I've only found them at Walgreens but they are expensive. Quest I've been buying at GNC with their b3g1f price or sometimes b2g1f price and then $10 off $20 coupon.

My fav is always gonna be Quest bars. But I do like to have Atkins ones to switch things up.

I never tried the "Advantage Meal" series.. but I think their "Endulge" line taste quite good. The PB cup, caramel nut chew (tastes just like snickers) and peanut cluster are my fav. But I can only one at a time.. binged on them before and my stomach HURT.

I made my own (no bake!) protein bars last weekend and they are without a doubt the best protein bars I have ever had. The advantage of making your own is that you can control the quality of the ingredients you put in them. There are hundreds of EASY no-bake recipes online.

If I have to get something from the store, taste-wise I like the Life Choice High Protein bars (I get those at Walmart).

So far Quest and ThinkThin seem to be the most promising sounding bars on this thread lol. Do I have to buy them at GNC?

Whole Foods carries ThinkThin as well as Trader Joe's. I've also seen them in random grocery stores here and there. I usually get them from Amazon by the box though as they're a bit cheaper. I can only vouch for the peanut butter flavor, but they're pretty good. Not disgustingly over-sweetened, but also not bland.

I've tried a lot of different kinds, but not Atkins, and the best ones that have 20g of protein in them are Quest bars. There's not even any comparison, and they fill me up longer too. I still have some pure protein bars, but honestly... yuck.

I actually really like the choc chip cookie dough one :) 2nd fave is the creamy PB one. I did not care for the granola ones. The "payday" one is really good.
