Bad News - High Cholesterol

So, I just got my lab results back that my thyroid is great but my cholesterol is high. I've been eating fairly healthy and very very low junk/processed food (once every 8 to 10 days) But for some reason I can't seem to lower my cholesterol. I work out 3 days a week for an hour + I do and extensive amount of cardio outside of the gym (I rack up about 700 active minutes a week alone, according to my fitness app)
My allergies are the following: all nuts, avocado, seafood except fish and oysters, some fruits and vegetables, chick peas, green beans, etc. but I've been eating them anyways and taking a zyrtec for the allergic reaction that may happen.
What should I eat on a low cholesterol diet? I guess no more eggs for me.

What does your doctor or dietitian recommend?
Diet, exercise, and losing weight can help to control cholesterol, but there is also a genetic component. If your statement about your eating and your exercise is correct, it's possible that you may be one of those people who has high cholesterol despite doing things 'right', in which case you may need medication.
In any case, dietary cholesterol doesn't really contribute towards blood cholesterol. Carry on eating the eggs.15 -
For most people, the cholesterol that you eat has very little effect on the serum cholesterol values. Eggs in particular have been shown to NOT effect serum cholesterol.
You may just be one of those folks (myself included) who have familial high cholesterol. I take a daily statin and it has taken care of the problem.
Also, while you are losing weight, cholesterol and triglyceride values may vary wildly because your body is mobilizing more fats (to make up for your calorie deficit) and then burning them for energy. This will be true until your weight stabilizes.9 -
I recently tried the keto diet and I had the first ever high cholesterol reading in my life. I was advised to start getting in more exercise and switch my diet to Mediterranean. I was able to get it back to normal in three months. I start every morning with a serving of oatmeal and berries and increased my bean intake i.e. canned black beans, pinto beans and kidney beans (i rinse my beans and try to get low-sodium when I can) . fiber is cholesterol's enemy. Definitely no more eggs or stick to egg whites only also surprisingly shrimp has a ton of cholesterol I never even considered before. Watch your cheese and red meat intake as well! I'm not a doctor or nurse but this is what I did hope it helps.16

I think the bigger question here is why are you eating foods you're allergic to and depending on an OTC allergy medicine to avert what could turn into anaphylaxis?26 -
Eat Cheerios and whole grains, they are supposed to help.
No but seriously, if it's genetics then it's genetics and you don't have to feel at fault. Definitely limiting fats/red meat in your diet and eating fiber will help, but there may not be a ton you can do. Your doctor should be better able to advise you.
Eat eggs. They're good for you, delicious and do not influence your cholesterol whatsoever.11 -

Going out on a limb I have to guess you haven't told your doctor about the Zyrtec and why you're taking it. Some reactions can be severe...

I hardly eat meat now. Mostly just fish and I'm kinda sick of it4 -

They know but they never advised me on what to eat so I'm just living on a whim here. Or in this case eating out of fear4 -
I guess the question is the food options: what should I be eating if I dont know what to eat without dying?5

What exactly was high? What do your labs look like?1

Has your doctor referred you to a registered dietician yet? I would start there along with another battery of tests for allergies and full disclosure of the results to the RD.
Death is pretty permanent7 -

Yeah I think this statement depends on if the egg council is promoting your study or if its one without bias. There have been at least 2 conflicting studies this year alone that if there is any doubt and you do have high cholesterol then it should be avoided.16 -

If you are looking to reduce your cholesterol then a whole food, plant based diet it best. While cholesterol has recently been questioned whether it is a risk factor for heart disease we do know it can only come from animal products which also contain saturated fat, hormones, heavy metals/toxins (mostly seafood/fish) and other promoters of poor health.20 -

Yeeeeeeeeeah, that's not how it works. Eating less calories than you burn equals weight loss. Eating more calories than you burn equals weight gain.16 -
My husband has high cholesterol. He is West Indian. He has never been overweight, always eaten healthy, excercised regularly. His cholesterol is high due to genetics. He tried to get it lower with changes to his diet. Less red meat, more fish, fruit, veg, also using cholesterol lowering drinks and spreads. But although it came down a little he still has to take statins.
You need to discuss your treatment with your medical team so you know exactly what you need to do to get it lower.9 -

The only unhealthy food there is is trans-fats an they have to be out of foods in the next couple of years (maybe sooner).Eat Cheerios and whole grains, they are supposed to help.

"My allergies are the following: all nuts, avocado, seafood except fish and oysters, some fruits and vegetables, chick peas, green beans, etc."
Eat other proteins like chicken, beef, pork, lamb, fish, beans, eggs, oats. Eat the fruits and vegetables you aren't allergic to. Eat grains and dairy. You can make pastas, stir frys, roast and grill lots of things, salads, sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, quesadillas, enchiladas, burgers, tacos.... There are a massive number of foods you presumably aren't allergic too.17 -

There are a whole variety of healthful foods out there you can eat without resorting to eating foods you are allergic to.Eat Cheerios and whole grains, they are supposed to help.

Why aren't you eating meat? Chicken, beef, pork, etc are perfectly healthy...there's no need to eat nothing but fish. Eating leaner cuts (and there are plenty of lean cuts of chicken, beef, and pork) will help keep calories down...it may also help with the cholesterol issue by reducing saturated fat...but there's absolutely nothing wrong with other cuts of meat.
I got my cholesterol down for a bit...the biggest thing was losing weight and getting in regular exercise. I also started eating more fibrous foods like oats, lentils, beans, etc and increased my veg and fruit (though I don't eat things I'm allergic to like bananas).
Unfortunately, I have an uphill battle with this given both sides of my family have a history of high cholesterol so it is more likely than not that I'll be on meds at some point despite good livin'.5 -

Do you have kidney problems? And don't worry so much about what you eat for weight gain. Worry about how much.6 -

Weight gain is caused by eating too many calories. Protein is no worse for weight gain than fat or carbs. In fact many people find that eating more protein helps them feel full longer with less food, making it easier for them to stay within a calorie goal.10 -

Who told you this and why did you believe them?
Meat is high in protein, yes. That’s not a bad thing, we need plenty of protein.
Meat will not cause weight gain unless you overeat it. As you have been told several times already, weight loss has nothing to do with what you eat, only how many calories you eat.11 -

Who told you this? Stop listening that that person. Only one thing causes weight eating more calories than you burn. That happens whether it is calories from protein, fat, or carbs, whether it is meat or grains or fruits or beans, or whatever.

I think the bigger question here is why are you eating foods you're allergic to and depending on an OTC allergy medicine to avert what could turn into anaphylaxis?
What choice do I have? Healthy foods equals weight loss and unhealthy foods equals weight gain
Yeeeeeeeeeah, that's not how it works. Eating less calories than you burn equals weight loss. Eating more calories than you burn equals weight gain.

There are a whole variety of healthful foods out there you can eat without resorting to eating foods you are allergic to.Eat Cheerios and whole grains, they are supposed to help.
No but seriously, if it's genetics then it's genetics and you don't have to feel at fault. Definitely limiting fats/red meat in your diet and eating fiber will help, but there may not be a ton you can do. Your doctor should be better able to advise you.
Eat eggs. They're good for you, delicious and do not influence your cholesterol whatsoever.
I hardly eat meat now. Mostly just fish and I'm kinda sick of it
Why aren't you eating meat?
Unfortunately, I have an uphill battle with this given both sides of my family have a history of high cholesterol so it is more likely than not that I'll be on meds at some point despite good livin'.
I was told eating meat is high in protein and can cause weight gain - which I don't want
Who told you this? Stop listening that that person. Only one thing causes weight eating more calories than you burn. That happens whether it is calories from protein, fat, or carbs, whether it is meat or grains or fruits or beans, or whatever.
