Hi! My name is Kevin and I am a 64 y/o male who is morbidly obese. Two weeks ago I weighed 314 lbs. My perfect weight is 160lbs. My highest weight was 370 lbs, but my exercise program has helped me to not go there again. After two weeks of changing my eating patterns I weighed in today at 299 lbs. The myfitnesspal app has really opened my eyes to ALL of the facets of nutrition. Counting calories really does not work. Understanding fat, carbs, protein and sodium is totally important. I am in the process of creating a new eating plan for myself that I can embrace and I am also enhancing my exercise program as well. I could not have done that effectively without your app. It appears that so many of the foods we all have to eat on a daily basis are REALLY BAD for us. I can no longer eat everything; instead I need to identify whether the foods I eat provide nutrition, or instead actually harm me. For so many years I believed the lie that enjoying food was bad and that dieting was good. I now understand that achieving a healthy weight and lifestyle has NOTHING to do with self-limiting. Being healthy allows us all to eat as much as we need to, but demands that we avoid foods that harm us. I'm excited and really believe that this understanding will finally get me to the place I belong. Achieving health and an appropriate weight can totally happen!

Congrats on your success and new approach! I agree with you that MFP is kind of amazing. It has helped me so much! I edited your post just a little because I think that's what you meant to say, right?

There are no inherently bad or good foods. There are simply foods, and the choices you make.

I've lost a ton of weight and I still eat so much "bad for me" fast food. I just eat less.
