One thing I struggled with transitioning into the fit life was remaining disciplined with my meals over the course of the weekend or if I had visitors.

July 4th weekend is coming up and things tend to get out of hand in my area between BBQs and alcohol. Stay vigilant everyone :#

I figure I get a bit of a pass on some holidays. Not every holiday, but some of them.

One day of over-eating doesn't ruin everything. If I eat too much on the 4th I can get back on plan on the 5th. No harm done.

Maybe you will get lucky like I often do and the person grilling the meat will way overcook it and make it less desirable.

I think if you intend your plan to transition into a lifestyle you should be okay with eating more on some days and then return to your deficit like @cmriverside says. A lifestyle should be flexible because you have to live it and not just now but forever if you want to get to goal and stay there.
