My new philosophy...

So now that it's summer, my husband got his 92 Camaro out of storage and we took a ride along the lake the other day. We stopped for lunch at a 1950s-type burger joint that bragged it had the "World's Best Cheeseburger".

They were not lying. Huge slab of ground steak on a beautiful soft roll with hot sauce, onions, relish, mustard. Messy. Juicy. Heavenly. We split an order of yummy French fries, and for dessert - I had a dish of chocolate-almond frozen custard.

Now I have been on MFP for 3 years. Other than vacations, have been logging carefully and exercising vigorously - so maintaining pretty well.

I knew my calories were shot to hell after that meal. But, truth be told, I did not give a *kitten*. It was such a great treat and so utterly satisfying and enjoyable- I think a week later - I am still high from it.

So my new philosophy is this: some things are just worth it. Better to blow the calories on something spectacular than to beat them to death slowly with a crappy bag of chips and cheap beer. :)

I agree completely. What a nice day you had! Every once in a while I'll crave pizza, so I'll order from my fav pizza place, open a bottle of red wine and totally enjoy it. I just know I can't do too often, but when I do it's worth it and there should be no guilt. We stress so much about it, I mean it's food for crying out loud! :-)
