Cheat Days and Insane Weight Gain. HELP!

For almost a year I’ve struggled with my weight. I gained about 20-25 pounds and cannot seem to lose it! It took me months to get down 10 pounds (with 10-15 to go) and I was losing like crazy last week. But it was my birthday, so for about 3-4 days I ate what I wanted (admittedly not healthy), was still active, and gained almost all my weight back. I’m 149 now, and was 142 on Wednesday (5 days ago). I’m so disappointed in my weight and the way I look and I don’t know how to keep going. Can I lose all this weight again quickly? Or will it take me another 2 months? Please help!!!

It takes 3,500 calories to make a pound. Unless you literally ate 24,500 extra calories in those 3 days, what you are seeing on the scale is not fat gain but temporary water retention and perhaps some extra waste in your system9

Eat it. Enjoy it. Log it.
Get back on track and keep this recent lesson learned in the front of your mind next time you're tempted to go so far off the rails.6 -

This. Also, extra calories means calories over your maintenance amount.5 -
Did you enjoy your birthday? That's the important question!
This weekend was my birthday - I "gained" 5 pounds from Friday morning to Monday morning. I did not eat 17,500 calories over my maintenance calories. But I had a really nice birthday and made some good memories.
Going from past experience, I suspect within 5 to 7 days I will be back down to where I was or close enough.
So just relax, get back on track and give it some time.3 -
1) Losing 10 lbs in two months is great! That's not a long time at all!
2) Overfeeds can cause water retention big time (what other people are telling you).
3) There are many reasons the scale fluctuates: http://physiqonomics.com/the-weird-and-highly-annoying-world-of-scale-weight-and-fluctuations/
4) There's no way you could've gained 7 lbs of fat in a few days (what other people are telling you).
5) Weight loss takes patience. You're losing over 1 lb a week at this point! That's really great and will help you maintain your weight loss once you reach your goal.
Here's a great post about eating way above your calorie limits for a few days. Might help you relax a little: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10603949/big-overfeed-ruins-everything-nope/p15 -
What the others said and "healthy" or "not healthy" makes zero difference in fat weight gain or loss. A cheeseburger for 600 calories will not make you gain or lose fat weight any more or less than 600 calories of broccoli.

Also remember weight is just a number.
It took me YEARS to unlearn everything I'd learned with diet culture...the pressure to be thin and weigh a certain amount.
What's more important? Living your life or the number on a damn scale?
I'm heaviest now that I've ever been and also happier and healthier.1
