50 years old and time to get serious

I have reached a birthday milestone and it's time to get serious. I lost 20 pounds last fall but then gained it back in the 8 months since. Going back to low-carb (60 net carbs a day) and walking 2-3x a week (this will increase once our blazing summers are ending). Family and workmates are on board and encouraging.

With menopause fast approaching, I know I need to lose the weight now because it will only get harder as I get older. At this point I'd be happy getting down to 160 lbs, and so that is my goal. That's less than I weighed when I got married 20+ years ago, so I'm content with that. With any luck, it will take 15 months or so, but I'm prepared for it to take longer. I know it's a long haul and I can't get lazy like I did last year, or else I'll gain it all back again.

Welcome to MFP. I am with you with the menopause issue, it sucks big time. Feel free to add me if you like.
