500 Calorie Diet

Hi, it’s my first time posting on this forum so I’m a bit nervous. But I cant seem to find this on google so here I am. I’m 167cm (5’6) and I used to weigh 75ish kg (like 160lb) and I managed to lose 8kg (17lb) by eating 500 calories a day. I know this isn’t healthy but it worked so I kept going. Except in the beginning my head got really dizzy easily and I also felt hungry, but now I don’t get dizzy anymore and I’m not hungry as often. Is this a sign of some sort? Should I be worried? Also my weight is slowing down and I can’t eat less than 500 calories a day so I don’t know what to do...I want to change but I’m really scared if I eat more I’ll gain weight.

That level of calorie intake is not meeting your body's nutritional needs. Get into your profile, put your starting/goal weight and level of activity, and eat the number of calories it tells you to eat. If you exercise, eat some of those back when you can (I try for about half). If you're HONEST with what you're eating/burning (weigh your food to measure accurate servings). You will continue to lose, but at a reasonable pace.

Eat what you are meant to eat - enter your stats in to MFP and then eat that net amount.

Weigh and log accurately, at least in the beginning, to ensure that is what you are really eating.

Oh and promoting VLCD's is against MFP rules - so that would be any 500 calorie diets.
(unless under medical supervision in extenuating circumstances - which is certainly not anyone who currently has a BMI of 24 - like you do)

I remember when I was a kid (well, a kid compared to now )- my mom went on a 500 calorie/day diet to lose weight for her 25th high school reunion. Her hair fell out. She passed out at the reunion. But she looked great in her dress..... *sigh*

you are correct to be worried. this is very unsafe even if it does work.

eating too little can have a serious impact on your health that is not just temporary and may not be felt until it's too late.

I highly recommend seeing your doctor and possibly seeking some extra support. being scared to eat more than 500 calories is problematic thinking that may well require professional support and guidance to move past.

No one is going to support anyone being on a 500 calorie diet. It’s too few calories for your body to get minimum nutrition it needs to function. You may want to seek advice from your health care professional. You are putting your health at risk eating too few calories.
