Recovering from ab strain

Hi all

I am recovering from a mild abdominal strain from pushups (not the first time I've had one!) It's still too painful to do pushups, which I want to get back into, but am wondering if there are gentle ab exercises I can do to build up better strength before I restart pushups so this doesn't happen again.

I have reasonable core strength as I am a competitive swimmer, so this happening it a total nightmare. Want to get back into it but don't want to create more damage.
