middle back pain after pushups

I notice when I do "man" pushups I get a serious pain in the middle of my back. I've had trainers check my form and it's not a problem. This time I've been put out for 2 days now. What really concerns me is that I also get a numb area on the left flank of my back. Has anyone experienced this or have advice (besides, see a doctor)? We're getting ready to switch health insurance and I don't want a pre-existing condition right before we do that.

I get really sore right in the middle of my shoulder blades when I do push ups, but other than that no real pain. I would go to the doc if it is as bad as you say it is. I am sure you can tell the difference between soreness and pain. So if you are in extreme pain I would go to the doc so you don't strain anything or injure yourself even worse.0

I would see a chiropractor. Maybe something is just out of line that needs to be fixed......0
