Hey guys, I’m running my first Spartan race in about a month it’ll be 8 miles. This is my first long distance run I’ve done and would love some tips you guys have learned along the way that might help (e.g types of clothes, shoes, meal prep before a race, what not to do, etc). Thanks!

I can't speak to a Spartan race specifically, but for running in general, do the same thing you did on race day that you did in training. Test any clothes, shoes, pre-run food, fuel, etc. on a long training run before race day. You don't want to be on the course and realize that your new shirt chafes, your new shoes are causing blisters, or your new breakfast didn't agree with you.
You can take fuel on an 8 mile run if you want, but not everyone needs it at that distance. If you do want fuel, try it on a training run first to make sure it doesn't upset your stomach.
Especially if it will be hot, think about how you usually hydrate on a run, and check the course map to see if the water stations match your needs. Carry water with you if you think you'll need it, or if you want a specific sports drink that the race doesn't provide, bring that.2
