it's pretty tough start with lower weight than you think you will need. Other than that it's pretty quck just keep reminding yourself it's only 30 minutes and you'll get through.
  • I started yesterday - I wish I waited, we could've done it together lol.

So far it's very tough - there are no breaks, but I haven't quit and I definitely don't plan to either.

Jillian's quite motivating, and the workout really isn't that long, so it goes by fairly quickly.

Tip: Take your measurements today & when you've completed Level 3, you can see your progress

Good luck! It DOES get easier! I am only on day 6, but only 4 days consecutively, so I think I will do a few extra on level one. For me, it gets easier after the first circuit, so just tough it out as best you can! It feels so much shorter not than it did the first few times I did it. Oh, and I find it hurts my shins, so I'm still looking for some better shoes.

    Have fun!!

I am on Level 1, Day 6. The key is....DON'T GIVE UP! It is a tough workout, but trust me you will see results. I have lost both lbs and inches. The one thing I would suggest is start with 3 lb weights instead of 5 and keep plenty of water on hand. It does get easier as you get through the level.

Good luck....YOU CAN DO IT if you want it bad enough.

Don't be afraid to do the modified moves at first, because you will be sore for a while.
It takes about 4-5 days before the soreness starts to subside.
Don't move onto another level until you feel comfortable with it then move onto the next. They get more difficult. Level 3 is a killer!!
I hate exercise and I love The Shred. I have done the program about 3 times now. I continue to use it through out the week. I used to not even be able to do Level 1 all the way through. Now I do 2 levels in one day, no problem. And I love the way it is making my arms and legs look.
Oh yeah make sure your hand weights aren't too heavy to begin with. I started with 2 lb ones now I use 5 lb ones. Also Jillian doesn't really give you breaks, so I keep some water close by so I can take a quick drink during the workout.
Just stick to it and good luck. I hope you enjoy it!

I just got done doing my first day about 30 minutes ago. i almost died! i was so ready for it to be over, but when I was done I felt so proud of myself. I am almost ready to tomorrow to see if I can do it again. (ALMOST  ). I believe that most important thing is to push yourself, when you feel like you want to quit remember why you are doing this in the first place. Everyone says do it with 3-5lb weights, but i did it with 2lb & I still felt the burn. I also heard people lose more inches than weight, so i measured myself before working out. I would like a lower weight as well, but whatever helps me comfortable fit in my jeans will be okay with me.

Good Luck! You Can do it!

I agree with everyone plus I would STRONGLY recommend doing your own extra stretching at the end. Jillian kinda rushes through the cool-down/stretching part and I was very sore the first few days until I started doing my own stretching. Now I feel shaky for an hour or so  right after the workout, but i'm not sore the next day!

Also, don't be scared to move to the next level. When you feel you are ready, give it a try and know that the modified versions are easier, but they still kick *kitten*. I did a couple days of alternating b/w levels 1 & 2 before doing two consecutive days of level 2. I'm in my third week of the shred and already lost 3 lbs! I'm feeling like I've lost inches too, but I'm not going to measure until I'm done.

And like everyone else said...keep going...it is a quick workout and even though it's hard, it's over before you know it!

    Good Luck!! :drinker:

Should you do it every day? I bought it yesterday and did level 1. I have been running about 3 miles and walking 2 miles every other day with some weight training on the days in between. I was planning on continuing the every other day run, and using this on the off days instead of the weight machines at the gym. Will that work, or do I need to plan on doing it every day, even if I run?

    Anyone know?
  • Congrats on this journey! I started the shred on Saturday  and it kicked my booty! I am an exerciser usually everyday but I discovered I had muscles that I didnt know that I had....It was reallly worth it though. I got through level one doing most of the modified version and was very happy when I was finished....I really felt like I got a very good workout of my entire body  I was very sore and still am today (Monday) but I plan to shred tonight. I agree with the others start with low weights or maybe your first time no weights...and I will also do more stretching as some of the others said too...Good luck and keep your eye on the prize!

Thanks all! I'm motivated - but I'm not kidding when I say I hate exercise. :( I really do. So I'm glad that some of you are going on this journey with me to keep me honest! :D

Hi all! I'm on day 8 of level 3 - I've been doing about 15 days at each level. DO NOT GIVE UP :) It gets much, much easier. I've found that it takes my body 3-4 days to really get the moves down pat. If I need to, I'll do the modified moves with Anita, and then work up to Natalie within a few days. Don't sweat it - your body WILL be able to do those moves within a very short amount of time.

This DVD has shown me how quickly my body really is capable of change. Work through the burn and keep going. You can do ANYTHING for 20 minutes. I repeat this to myself over and over again through this workout!

I typically do the DVD 6 days a week, and take 1 day of rest. I started with really light weights and am now using 5 lbs for everything. I've noticed a big difference since using the 5 lbs. Work up to it, if you can.

One bit of advice. I had to take a long break between levels 1 and 2 b/c I injured my knees in level 1. I let that heal for about a month and then jumped back into level 2 for 15 days without problem. I think it was the knee circle warm-ups. I now substitute that move with neck circles, and have had no issues with level 2 or 3.

I love talking about the shred, so feel free to ask me questions :) Happy shredding!
