Configuring Macros

Just curious, do you set your own macros or do you use the MFP suggestions?

I set in my weight, how much I want to lose per week (1 lb per week), my exercise level, and it wants me at 50% carbs. That seems high to me.

I’m just learning about macros so any advice would help. Thank you!

Your call. Only thing that matters for weight is calories.

When I was losing I used mostly 40/35/25, but just play around with it. The only one I pay much attention to is protein, because if I don't I won't eat enough of it. I'm back at the default setting now of 50/30/20, it works fine for me. It kind of depends on you and your specific situation - so play around with it. If you're just starting out I'd say leave it at the default for the first month and see how it goes.

I started with the MFP defaults, then when I noticed higher protein days made it easier to stick to my calorie goal, I took 5% from carbs and gave it to protein. I pretty much just try to get over my protein goal and vaguely keep an eye on fat. I naturally eat a lot of carbs, it's how I feel best. I lost 20 lbs with that and have been maintaining for a couple of years.

I’m using the default but am going to switch to lower carbs for health reasons. I’ll “give” the reduction to protein.

You can customize under goals, I believe it is under daily goals.

Thank you all for your advice and suggestions! Much appreciated. :)

I decided to up my protein intake and decrease carbs by just a bit. I know if I don’t have enough protein, I am more hungry and crave carbs.
