Has your style changed as you've lost weight?

I'm now confident enough to wear clothes I've always wanted to wear and admired on others. I agree about the white pants and shorts mentioned by @Katmary71. I can comfortably wear things that are clingy because my rolls are gone. I wear all kinds and colors of regular slacks to work instead of just black "dress pant yoga pants". Certain clothes that used to look inappropriate now look professional. I wear more dresses now because my thighs don't rub so badly. I am now an underwear snob- I only buy really cute or sexy stuff.
I also can't stop buying clothes. It's a problem. 😂9 -
I’ve lost 15 pounds. 20 or so to go. I look forward to looking put together in jeans and a t shirt. I can’t wait till I can wear basics like that.5

I was always fairly into fashion/clothing even at my heaviest. For most of my adult life, I wore size 24 and honestly I think I dressed my figure to my best advantage. Plus size clothing usually seemed like it was cut for my figure and my height. I wore a lot of dresses with heavy cardigans, jeans and loose tops/sweaters, t-shirts that were just big enough to hide belly rolls and boot cut jeans.
When I first dropped to size 12, it was a shock. None of that looked very good on me anymore. I switched over to skinny jeans and had to completely let go of any sort of tunic or really oversized top. Cardigans need to be thinner and more fitted to look good and not "swallow" my body and make me look frumpy. More recently I've discovered a huge love of trouser jeans and any dress with sleeves, long or short. These are good looks for my body that I never would have expected.
Now I find it's more challenging to track down things that fit me well. Not terribly difficult, but more challenging. I'm 5'8" with wide hips, a fairly large bust, but also surprisingly small-boned. I wear a mix of sizes 10/12 but find when I get down into a true 10 it's more difficult to find dresses that work on me and if I ever were to dip into size 8, I'd definitely need alterations for my tops and dresses. After always fitting plus sizes perfectly, this has been surprising.
As for style though, I find myself wearing much more fitted and tailored pieces because they flatter me more. I have gone a bit more preppy and vintage (think 80s to early 90s) because it suits me. I have always been hugely into accessories, footwear, etc...but I think wearing smaller sizes has made me a little less likely to shop for and buy shoes and bags, and more likely to buy clothing instead. For awhile I was obsessed with dresses and owned over 30 of them...I still wear dresses at least 2-3 times per week, but I always have.
I still go from super short pixie cuts to shoulder length hair, light brown to near-black, and back again. I get bored. This isn't really different for me re: weight but I find that a lot of people I know who have lost large amounts of weight DO completely change their haircolor/style.8 -
My clothes used to be extremely baggy because I was embarrassed of how I looked. Unfortunately, those clothes probably made things worse.
I've finally bought clothes that fit correctly, especially jeans. It's great to wear a nice shirt that fits correctly and not feel like it's stretching itself more each time I wear it.5 -
I'm wearing tank tops now and tighter tops. I NEVER would have done that in the past.3

It takes time to find your own personal style. It also has to do with age appropriateness; now that I’ve dropped 15 pounds I can fit into a lot of junior sizes, but at age 59 they usually look ridiculous on me. I’ve also discovered that I still like my skirt lengths a bit longer...an inch or two above the knee vs. mid-thigh. No bows or ruffles or frills or too much pink for me. Some necklines that look great on 30-somethings are just a bit too low-cut now for my taste.2

I'm actually buying white pants and shorts for the first time in my life and not all black clothes! I'm wearing shorts instead of capris, tank tops instead of long tee shirts, and actually wore a bathing suit without a cover up in front of a bunch of strangers recently. I never would've even gone to the gym in leggings without a butt-covering tee shirt, now I run around in leggings all the time. I've been wearing less makeup, I need to hit Sephora or Ulta and try out some new stuff.
My biggest challenge is my feet shrunk so now I need new shoes too, I always thought shoes were a safe thing to buy! I'm getting new workout shoes this week, can't wait!
Oh yeah, definitely switched out capris for shorts here, too. I have a pretty bad scar on the back of one calf from spider bites and subsequent surgeries...but one bonus of weight loss has been a much smaller-appearing scar and I actually bare my legs a lot now!
While I still wear butt-covering tops with leggings, I wear those a lot too and not just with a skirt or dress on top (like in the past). I love my thicker Athleta and Pearl Izumi leggings as "pants" with longish shirts and never would have worn that before. Sometimes in the summer, I even wear them to my (very casual) office with a longer white or chambray button down shirt and white Birkenstocks.2 -
Nope... Still wear the same type of crappy clothes.... just smaller.....2
-
Definitely! I used to dress in baggy t-shirts to hide. Not anymore. It took time for my mental state to accept I was smaller and it was okay to wear from fitting clothes. No need to hide anymore. It has taken some time but I have gained confidence in myself and wearing form fitting clothes is my norm now. I used to pretty much only wear dark clothes... not anymore.

I bought a skort for the first time and it felt GREAT to wear it. Still have to stop thinking "fat" when ordering new clothes. Am also caring more about my appearance.3

My style changed completely. I am now able to wear anything I want. I look good in athletic clothes, suits, or just jeans and a T-shirt. Finally upgraded my wardrobe and now I feel good every day. I never leave the house looking like I used to6

Thanks for all the comments so far! I'm hoping we can keep this thread going. I need ideas.
I finally got myself to donate all my REALLY large clothes. For some reason, it was surprisingly hard (a lot of nostalgia, and I really liked some of the clothes); but I realized I don't ever intend to be that weight again. I finally see that wearing clothes MANY sizes too big is not flattering; I was definitely hiding myself.4 -
The biggest change for me is that I feel comfortable wearing tank tops and short sleeved shirts. Last year I wore long sleeved shirts to the gym every day, even in summer. Now I feel comfortable working out in anything, even cropped tops! It feels amazing to not be so self conscious, even though I have more weight to lose still2

I mainly just wear athletic wear every single day.1

Careful what you wish for.... lol🙈2 -
My style has definitely improved. Now that I'm slimmer, I can find a great selection of good-quality clothes, and I really care about how I dress now. Before, it was t-shirts and sweats, and now it's skinny jeans and cashmere sweaters!3

Just purchasing new clothes. I guess a little bit sure. The smaller bra sizes are cuter and don't look granny. The underwear is bikini now and not grandma parties. The blouses aren't curtains anymore, but actually tank tops. So yeah I'm sure there's a change😉3
