Never been on the forum's side before. I started keeping track of my diet at the beginning of May, I gained alot of weight in college and finally got around to trying to lose it. Started at 242 lbs in May and I weighed this morning at 197lbs. I don't really pay attention to anything other then calories, I do have a high sodium intake, but that is due to lifestyle, lots of outdoors work with food on the go i.e dehydrated food and beef jerky.
Just checking in. Goal is 180lbs and finally raised my daily cal intake from 1680 to 1800 since I reached 200lbs.

As much as calories do matter, you should try paying attention to what comes along with those calories.
While you're cutting, I'm bulking on 2.7k and can still find ways to keep sodium and sugars down.
Just a general rule that'll help you out is no processed foods. That'll probably help you a fair bit.
Gl, stay safe0
