Fully Raw

I am considering on going FULLY RAW only eating raw fruits and veggies. I have learned that eating FULLY RAW is a very healthy lifestyle if your able to stay on this eating plan.

What is your knowledge on eating just raw foods?

Is it safe?

What are the pros and cons of eating FULLY RAW?

Will I lose weight eating FULLY RAW?

Will I have more Energy?

Thank you for your feed back on the topic of eating FULLY RAW.

FULLY RAW? Are you sure you got your point across that the idea you have in mind is FULLY RAW?

    On a serious note:

You will get many different answers, do your own research and make your own mind up.

Do I recommend it? Hell no, you won't sustain it forever, so why bother.

You can lose weight eating Mc Donalds or Chocolate, so that answers that question.

    Probably not, no.

    FULLY RAW.

I'm confused … raw fruits and vegetables are the only thing you eat? Or the only fruits and vegetables you eat are raw?

The first is not sustainable … you need grains and proteins, and many of those need to be cooked (raw oats? not very accessible for the body to digest. raw beans? same. raw meat? eeeww)

Nothing wrong with the second, except for a couple of vegetables that should only be eaten cooked (eggplant comes to mind) but there's not many, and you can avoid those. But I can't imagine that this would make that much of a difference in the long run … it's going to depend on your overall diet.

You can eat meat too ... Carpaccio, sashimi, saveche (only cooked with citric acid), egg yolks (raw w/ salt as a salad dressing ... yums)... and unpasturized dairy (The are some really yummy raw cheeses, Naked Goat also called Murcia Curado is one of my favorites) ... Nuts and seeds are also important for healthy fats and minerals that aren't present in fruits and vegetables ...

Including these other foods would make the lifestyle more sustainable ...

My advice would be to go High Raw, about 70-80% is realistic for most people ...

Are you talking about the 80/10/10 plan that Dr. Graham pushes? If so, google 30 bananas a day sucks and read some uncensored experiences with this plan  I eat a mostly vegan diet, but disagree that eating a raw vegan diet is ideal for long term, good health (the way Graham promotes). Instead, why not check out Dr. Joel Fuhrman's book Eat to Live, or Vegan for Her, by Virginia Messina, MPH, RD. Both are excellent books about the health benefits of eating a whole foods, plant based diet but they're not extreme :)

This is one place that you will need more cowbell.

Raw also covers meat cooked below a certain temperature, and whilst it may sound ok in the summer...that raw turnip is not gonna look so good with you up to your *kitten* in snow!

    Just think about it.

I eat a raw vegan diet, but it isn't 100%. When I first switched, I lost lots of weight very fast, but that's because it's VERY hard to eat 2000 calories of raw veggies. Fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds combined have every single nutrient you need, so it is possible to sustain on a raw vegan diet. Adding in ceviche and unpasteurized dairy can also broaden the dinner table options. It's a misunderstanding that you can't cook, only that food is not cooked above 117 degrees (i think that's the number, double check me on it) because that is when enzymes and other valuable nutrients begin to break down making it a wasted effort.

I would recommend giving it a try for a few weeks. Think of it as a detox from processed foods. I was amazed how quickly I felt better eliminating all refined and processed foods, which has led me to believe my doctor wasn't kidding when he said I may have a gluten sensitivity I never knew about. I feel pumped and energetic all the time, even on days I have to get really creative just to reach my calories. I don't force myself to live with a label, though, so if someday I decide I want a glass of milk or maybe little steak, I might just do that. For now, I'm really enjoying learning so much about all of the various fruits and veggies out there.

Some well known people who are raw foodists are Carol Alt (100%, the rest are a majority), Sting, Cher, Susan Sarandon, Ed Norton, Demi Moore, Alicia Silverstone, Angela Bassett, Jason Mraz, Donna Karan, and the late Steve Jobs.

Going Raw or even Vegan is really not about wt loss. If wt loss is your primary purpose maybe you had better do more research. I suggest going to YouTube and look into it. We are talking about a MAJOR LIFESTYLE Change!, Not a temporary wt loss solution. Personally, I believe that a person should go Vegan, then X% raw Vegan, then if they still want to do Totally Raw. Very few people that I know who are Raw Vegan jumped into it, they TRANSITIONED.

My goal is to be a Mucusless Vegan Practitioner...But I have gone through Phases: Of Course S.A.D., then Fish and Chicken eating "Vegetarian", then Fish/Egg Eating "Vegetarian", NOW I'm a REAL Vegetarian = Vegan. I eat Whole Foods, low starches and low fat. Vegetarian or Vegans that eat a lot of refined foods (packaged, canned, Tofu, Soy, Bars...) Usually get sick (Candida...) because that refined mess is JUNK FOOD, worse or as bad as McDonald's. Vegetarians/Vegans get FAT too, mainly because of Junk Food (Refined). So do your research, and Transition...and YES, your weight WILL NORMALIZE and so will your Health if you have Health Issues...but Time and Transition are the Keys.

It's the name of at least one porn.
  • Ok. Aside from all the negative comments you will get... I will tell you what I think. Raw fruits and veggies is doable, but most people do fail at it. Last summer my husband and I decided to do the juice thing. It lasted all of a week. It was hard as Hell. If you do it correctly, you CAN get all your nutrition needs met, even protein. HOWEVER, most do not eat enough to do it correctly. I mean, I see these people who eat as much in a day that I could eat in a week. It is a bit insane. But I will tell you what I do now. I do raw until supper. I did try to do completely raw....it is so hard. I did get over all the cravings I was having, but it was still hard. In the area I live in, I am limited on what fruits we get. I am so tired of bananas right now, I can't eat another one for a while. Eating raw until supper works. If you add a sensible meal it makes you feel full and satisfied. It doesn't even have to be cooked. Most days I eat a sandwich. I love Ezekiel bread. It rocks! I still have problems getting all my calories in though. It's trial and error. See what works best for you. :)

I can't answer your questions, but I have a friend doing a raw diet right now, and she loves it. She says she feels great and stopped getting stomach aches and bloating. Granted, its only been two weeks, but she says she doesn't "enjoy" eating any food anyway, and she prefers the raw veggies.

Personally, I love warm, cooked food, especially in winter, so I don't think I could go fully raw. But I will be going gluten-free for a while soon (recommendation from my doctor) and I will try to incorporate raw only until supper time. Should be pretty easy I think! I hope...

If you decide to go fully raw, report back! I wanna know how it goes!

There are books loaded with broscience saying raw is better. There are books filled with broscience saying that our ability to cook is what made us able to grow our brains so big. Neither have much real science behind them.

I eat mostly raw about 95% of my diet is FULLY RAW lol, seriously... the cooked food that I will consume is maybe a small amount of beans added to a salad or some boiled potatoes, quinoa or black rice. I do believe that it is safe, I believe that you will have more energy but only if you are consuming enough calories. You won't feel weighed down by fat. Eat lots and lots of fruit to get your calories up. Watch Freelee's videos for some good information, also there is 30bananasaday.com plus Megan Elizabeth just has good ideas on her channel that are easy to follow
