We’ve all given and received compliments and praise, but certain ones tend to stand out from the rest. Sometimes it’s not simply what was said but it’s what you needed to hear in that moment.
Please feel free to share those moments that stood out to you.

My sixth grade teacher wrote in my autograph album, “A bright, articulate girl - now if you’d only get organized!” I knew I was disorganized but it was the first time anyone had told me my strengths in specific terms. Thank you, Mrs. Vargas.4

That I'm a great mom. It's the best compliment I could ever receive. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed because I have to do everything on my own and sometimes I wonder if I'm doing enough. Especially in the last year with my kids father passing away and health issues I've had to deal with. When someone acknowledges everything I do it touches my heart and gives me that little boost I sometimes need and it reminds me that I really am doing the best I can.7

I’ll never forget what my eldest daughter told me when she was ten. The two of us were driving home from her soccer game when she said, “Mom, you’re different than the other mothers. When I’m playing on the field, you don’t go on your cell phone the entire time and actually watch me play. The other moms just say, ‘That’s nice,’ and don’t even look.” I had been feeling as if I failed at being a good parent at that point in my life. So her comment really mattered to me in that moment and helped me gain a better perspective of reality.7

I’ve always felt small and a guy from my dads work at a cookout said it looked like I was a pretty big guy like I had some size to me:) I know it sounds lame but it made me feel good.4

Well, you do have that lovely hair and sparkly eyes and a sort of magical look about you. ❤️3 -

The one and only time I've ever gotten complimented at work, for how far I've come with my weight loss. By far, the best compliment I've ever received. Bar none.2

These are so great, I love reading them!
"you're the smartest person I know" - I have heard this in wildly different situations from very different people and it is by far my favorite.3 -
My favorite compliments are about my personality, because it's not something I can change. I have been a sarcastic, moody jerk since birth, so if someone thinks I'm smart or funny, I'm like OMG I LOVE YOU.

I wore eyeliner once. My daughter said I looked pretty “just like a vampire”.9

I love that kind of sense of humor. Though it does take me a bit, to realize folks like you are actually joking.2 -
"Sarah's effing hilarious!"3

This literally just happened! I have been asking to go through the project manager training in my company for 3 years....well, my boss just told me he is going to get me in a class this fall and both he and his boss told me they think I am going to be a great project manager! My boss rarely gives positive feedback so this is big!5

I had to go to a funeral this one time (I know right, what an inconvenience) and afterward there was a backyard cookout type thing. I went up to the BBQ pitmaster with my buns and garnishes meticulously laid out and politely asked for a burger. I guess I always say please whenever I ask for anything because a relative who was standing behind me was quite impressed and said, "Wow, you are always so nice."
I just shrugged at her comment and said "well". Then she jokingly goes, "Just tell him to give you a burger."
Hit her with one more shrug and topped my burger as I walked away.
What I later realized, while alone in contemplation, is that please's and thank you's can make us the gatekeepers of peace in this world of ours. And with a newfound awareness that I have an unlimited reserve of it is one of the most powerful feelings I've ever felt. To think it all manifested from a dead person and a burger... but that's usually how it goes.7 -

My take from this.... is that you should always meticulously lay out buns and garnishes; always.5 -
When I was feeling fat and ugly and my gorgeous husband put his hand on my heart and said "this is what I love". ❤6

My mom telling I'm a good mom. My mom and I don't have the best relationship and she wasnt the best mother to my brother and I. So when she tells me how proud she is of the mother I am to my kids, I can't help but be proud of myself for breaking a cycle.7

In high school the day of graduation my friend came up to me and told me that she had always felt different than everyone else, but that I always included her and never made her feel like she was weird or not welcome. She thanked me for forcing her to sit with me on the first day of school and gave me the biggest bear hug. What she didn’t know is that I really admired her so much. She owned who she was and did it so boldly, it seemed without care of what others thought. I secretly had wished I could be like that. It took me many years later to be confident with who I am. That’s the compliment that stands out most, and she’s one of the few I still keep in contact with from highschool.7

The smiles and sounds of my sons being full of love, joy, and happiness is the best compliment I receive.3

Everything my girlfriend says to me. She's always so loving and grateful, and I in return.3

Generally have a bunch of seemingly random people tell me I have a good memory because I can easily memorize/recognize people & know his/her name (even spelling, even Birthdays too) & recollect my history/past experiences with ease (even minor things). Wouldn't consider these people friends; just part of the business/helpful to know them somewhat nonetheless (history, preferences, etc.)
I will joke with him/her about it sometimes, mostly telling him/her not to tell me his/her SSN#0
