Types of scales

I'm off to buy a new set of scales. I see there are some that measure body composition, fat % etc. Do many of the the mfp community use these features, and are they useful? I've always just had the standard "this is what you weigh" scales but wondered if others found the body composition scales useful/interesting?

I don't think those fancy body fat % scales are actually very accurate. I use a basic "this is what you weigh" digital scale I got for $11 on Amazon and I'm happy with it. Weight fluctuates constantly, so I don't think there's a need to pinpoint your exact weight down to the micro-gram.1

I did get a smart scale because it syncs with my trending app as well as MFP.0

Unless you enter your data into a spreadsheet and take a 30 day average I'd forget the body composition scales. I've done that, the number fluctuates all over the place.0

Thanks. I'm not going to do spreadsheet...I'm not that keen! Happy just to take note and move on.1
