Seeking busy friends

Hi, all! I have a crazy work and school schedule since I am a grad student. I would love suggestions, advice, tips on how to incorporate exercise into a busy schedule. I rejoined myfitnesspal because I fell off the bandwagon. I regained the 10 pounds I had lost due to poor eating habits and crazy school and work hours.

Try to get make sure you're eating right. If you're eating well and not eating too many calories you won't gain weight. I know that sounds obvious, but you really can lose weight just by eating right.
You should go for shorter workouts. I bet dvd's or online videos would work better for you, that way you're not worried about changing to drive to the gym, working out, then driving all the way home. You can just workout and then pop in the shower before you go to work or before bed. Or you could try power-walking from class to class. It doesn't sound like much, but those 2-3 minute spurts throughout the day add up.

Thanks for the tips. I definitely need to eat healthy. My diet while I am in school consists of coffee, coffee, and make a bagel from Starbucks. I put on weight as a result of eating lunch and taking snack breaks with my summer co-interns. I will probably force myself to walk up and down the stairs instead of using the elevator. Do you have any tips for DVDS or online videos? I bought the Brazilian Butt Lift program about 3 years ago & I never make it passed week 2.

Was it because you got bored with it? I haven't done that one so I don't know if there are multiple videos. I know pretty much all jillian michaels stuff is short. I loved the 30 day shred it's one of the first workouts I did. Blogilates is a great youtube channel and she has loads of videos. She also does challenges every month and sends out calendars.

Yes, I grew bored. I do not like spending over an hour doing at home workouts. Maybe I should enlist a friend. I will definitely check out Blogilates. Thanks. :-)

I work full time, and a double-major going to school full time so I totally feel ya! I go to the gym before work which means I am there at 4am...its actually pretty nice because no one is really there. Also, I pack my lunches and snacks for work and school that way I have something to eat all day and I know how much I am eating.

@morethanthis0 that is amazing. I wish I could make it to the gym at 4 am. I am such a night owl and have trouble waking up early. Just another change I have to make. Do you have any suggestions for snacks that give you energy? I usually rely on fruit, Luna Bars, or coffee.

Ahh, I've always been a morning person so waking up early isn't much of a problem haha but going to the gym before work does give me a boost of energy. As for foods for energy, I am not a great example. I drink coffee and/or an energy drink usually on my way to work. I like redbull sugar free and monster recovery tea+ lemonade. I did drink green tea for awhile which is supposed to help with metabolism and energy. I have an iron deficiency and just always seem tired, I can fall asleep practically anywhere haha. So sorry I can't help with energy food!

    There are no tips.

You have to make the time instead of excuses (that isn't a dig at you either). It's hard when you are super busy but a lot of people manage to do it

@morethanthis0 No worries. It's comforting to know that someone else relies on caffeine for an energy boost.
@nicolee_1979. I agree. I received good advice on another thread about being realistic with goals and exercise. I am going to start slowly and hopefully master a good routine that fits my schedule.

  • My husband & I just started( 2 weeks ago) Focus T25, its a program by Beachbody (ignore the name;-) It is a 10 week program that gas workout videos. Each workout is only 25 min. long. Also the only real equipment needed is a mat. They are good workouts and there is a schedule you follow so it takes the guess work out of it. We are also sort of following the meal plan. Hope some of thus information helps. Good luck on this journey!
