insanity- minimum calories

So, I bought Insanity and did all the math for calories. I came up with the fact that I should be eating just over 1600 calories per day. Now, for some unknown reason, I can't find any of my materials, but I keep seeing online in forums that the minimum calories suggested from Insanity is 1700. Can someone confirm the 1700 or is it safe to continue aiming for 1600?

I started Insanity at 186, I'm 5'4" and 39. I did the program on 1550 so I'm sure you will do just fine at 1600. Best of luck!!!

Can't say if its safe or not for you specifically. But here is a reminder of the equation. (In case anyone else is curious)

The Insanity Nutrition guide recommends the following:

    Step 1
"First use the Harris Benedict Equation to caloric needs."
    For women: 655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)

    Step 2
Now, take that number and multiply the the level of activity. Since you are doing Insanity Moderately active or very active should apply.
    Mod Active = 1.55
    Very Active = 1.7

    Step 3
    Adjust depending on your goals.
For weight loss subtract 500 calories from the number achieved from following steps 1 & 2.
For maintenance us the number from step 2.
For weight gain add 250 to 500 to your total from step 2.

Here's what I go when I plugged in your numbers for weight loss.
Using the moderately active number, I came up with 1665 calories per day.
Using the very active value, I came up with 1875.

Hope this answers your question. (& that my math is right  )
