Recovery & Relaxation

Feeling pretty worn out now as I relax in the lounge and digest my evening meal. Had another big deficit day on calories once I factored in my activity and exercise. I’m eating when I feel like it but less and don’t feel hungry, plus drinking more water. I know the ‘experts’ advise taking rest periods or rest days but that is something I am not good at, never have been good at being a couch potato, feel too guilty.
I think there are probably others like me out there who don’t do rest well.

Yes. same. but sometimes i use my rest days to have go swim (relaxing one). Or walk a mile or two. Since i am used to mostly running and on other days doing weights. So i do something but just not so intense as my regular days.2

A rest day doesn't have to be just sitting around on the couch. A rest/recovery day is just a rest from more strenuous exercise. You can still be active on rest/recovery days. It also depends on what you're doing. Right now my exercise is pretty light to moderate (10 mile bike rides on weekday mornings and some body weight training daily and a couple longer rides on the weekend) and I'm pretty fit and don't really require a rest day with what I'm doing.
When I was actively racing and training for races and also working with a trainer, I absolutely needed a couple of active recovery days where I'd just do some yoga or go for a walk or a recreational ride with my kids or something. Rest doesn't mean just sitting on your *kitten*.2
