Wondering if any runners out there has dealt with piriformis pain. Most importantly I’m wondering if it’s ok to run through some mild pain. I have had it for 2 months, seen an ortho, started PT, replaced running with spinning. It’s getting less painful but definitely still there. I’d really want to get back to running again..

When I had it, I tried to back off of whatever agravated it. Deadlifts and hinging forward on the affected leg hurt the most. If running hurt, I walked. I also stretched and rolled it on a ball. The pain eventually subsided, but it did take a while. Ask your PT but running with pain might just make it worse.

I know more than I care to know about Periformis Syndrome. My wife had it for nearly two years. In agonizing pain. We tried everything -- PT, stretching, Active Release Therapy, seeing multiple docs. Nothing except active release therapy helped her for long until I found a doc in Belgium that did a surgery (all inclusive) for less than most cruises would cost. She was better the next day. Two or three stitches, very non invasive. He's the only guy in the world that is that good. No issues since. That was over five years ago.

At least, it seems, you know what it is and you've found a PT to work with you. Most docs in the US will tell you it's your lower back and want to operate on you.
