Most of the theaters around here serve food, wine and beer now. That seems weird to me. Concessions are 3-4 times more expensive than buying them elsewhere, for the exact same item. Movies cost enough by themselves, without the gouging for refreshments. Waste of money, and calories.
I used to work in a movie theater. To be fair, concessions are where theaters make their money and keep their doors open. They don't make money at the box office...most of that goes back to the studios who made the movie.
Personally, I love theater concessions...and even more I'm liking the theater here that does food, beer, and wine because we can kill two birds with one stone with the kids. We go to the movies maybe 3 times a year though, so no biggie.1
