Is this even working?

I’ve been working out consistently 5 days a week for the past 3 weeks. I and the people around me have already noticed muscle in my arms building. Idk why but I feel like I won’t see any other muscle. Someone told me that lifting free weights like I am won’t get me to build muscle and if I want to do that I have to use machines that target specific muscles. I’ve just been discouraged lately because I feel like my hard work almost every day isn’t going to pay off for some reason

Machines has their uses and free weights has their uses, combinations of both is good,
Though our muscles dont know we using machines or free weights the just respond to the load1
