I don't understand..how that could be?..It couldn't be sodium only went up a small amount according to the chart.. I'm on 2 antibiotics..Could that be making me gaining weight? i've had a bad week apart from all that this just makes it worse...

I'd suggest stop weighing so often and just use the mirror as a judge, it's highly likely you didn't gain a lb of fat0 -
It will just be water weight. I know it sucks seeing the numbers going up but some things you just cannot control.0

Agreed. Pick 1 day a week that you get on the scale in the morning. Do it before you eat and before you drink each time and this will give you a more accurate log of how much you're actually losing. Day to day weigh ins are stressful.0 -
What the. You've been a member here since Sep 2010. Surely you know that weight fluctuates. A whole pound?? OMG! Rush to the emergency room!0

It's water weight. 54 calories can't make you gain any measurable weight. IF you actually added every one of those 54 calories to your body, storing as glycogen would be the heaviest it could be, 54 calories / (4cal/gm carb) = 13.5 grams. Glycogen stores water with about a 3:1 ratio, so you would get another 40.5g water, for a total of......drumroll......54 total grams, not enough to be recorded by an average home scale.
The antibiotics themselves won't make you gain fat, but healing from any kind of infection can cause bloating and swelling, and also antibiotics can do some nasty things to your gut flora- make sure you're eating yogurt or taking a probiotic with the antibiotics.
Oh, and stay off the scale.0 -
It is quite possible that the antibiotics are causing the water retention or whatever ailment you have that is causing you to take them could be doing it. I wouldn't stress over it and I'm sure when you're better that lb will be gone!0

One pound?
Inflammation is water retention. Infection is inflammation. Ta Da.

I have learned one absolute truth while dieting: bodies are weird.
No really. You can't predict what's going to cause your body to retain water. Hormones. Exercise. Sodium. Stress. Sickness. Heat. The list goes on.
One bad weigh in is nothing to be concerned about. They're going to happen. Unless it becomes a trend just throw it out as an anomaly and keep going.0 -
I agree with everyone else. Pick a day to weigh ONCE A WEEK. Do it before you eat/drink as soon as you wake up after you've used the bathroom.
Weight naturally fluctuates daily. So weighing every day will not give you an accurate measurement of your weight.0 -

weighing daily is a bad option if you can freak out so easily..i fluctuate by 2 pounds on daily basis and it does not bother me at all..0

This^^^^ Only weigh daily if you can take it with a grain of salt. I do it to see how different levels of sodium affect my weight. Other than that, I only track my weight on Thursdays. That way I can see the overall trend.0 -

^this. except my fluctuations are more than 2 lbs and most importantly it took me several months to get to this point of not freaking out over scale fluctuations. i did not keep a scale in the house for that reason and only weighed approximately weekly at places like the gym or whatnot.0 -

Lol. I do the same thing. I started eating a couple of slices of bacon with my breakfast on the weekends and stayed within my calorie goal but on Monday that scale always had me heavier. I would freak. How could I possibly gain while eating at or below goal? SODIUM. Took me a couple of weeks before I caught on. DUH!! Still eat that bacon every weekend though! MMMMM... bacon...0
