Hi!
I love to hike, and try to do a small one (at least) daily.
Ive noticed that on the exercises listed, they only have "cross country' listed for hiking. What about super rugged steep hilly mountain hiking? I know it burns a ton of calories, but id like to know just how much. Can anyone help?

look for walking/running upstairs. sometimes I find that if I type in walking, jogging, or running there are other options that fit into the exercise I did that day. I do a lot of hiking too.:flowerforyou: I am going to look for a exercise calculator online to compare to the MFP. If I find anything, I'll let you know. But now I am off to breakfast!

I checked - they have some additional categories - maybe they will help. You go to activity calculator then list of activities and it pulls up a huge list - you put in your height, weight, etc., so it's fairly accurate. Good luck and happy hiking!

I bought a Polar heart rate monitor this winter which has been super helpful with outdoors activites. I am excited to wear it on some big hikes this summer and see how many cals I am actually burning.

I love to hike too. My husband and I started doing day hikes along the Tahoe Rim Trail. We have done a few 20 mile hikes. It's awesome and absolutely amazing up there.
Anyways there are pedometers for hiking. They are a great motivational tool as well. I usually walk more when wear one. They are fairly inexpensive as well.
    Happy hiking
