So, I've been wearing a lot of dresses lately...

because all my pants are so baggy!!! I don't have money to replace them (and I'm not into the smaller size JUST yet)... but check this out. I bought size 12 shorts um, TWO weeks ago. They were tight but I knew they'd fit fine for my trip to Florida at the end of the month. I put them on Saturday (for the 2nd time, so they'd been stretched a little) and I literally could feel them SHIFT on my waist as I walked. I could have pulled them to my hips for them to be snug. I feel kind of sad...my first pair of white shorts. I should know better at this point not to spend so much (like $12) on new clothes, BUT... I thought, hey, they're tight now, they'll be fine for awhile! WRONG.

Also...my dress pants today. I pulled them out of the dryer yesterday and put them in my dresser. This morning, I put them on - FIRST TIME SINCE CLEAN - and already now, there's at least a 2 inch gap on my waist, the legs are SUPER baggy and the hem (they're rolled up - ever since I bought them 'cause I'm short) is almost dragging on the floor even with my 3"+ wedges on... they used to be just right. No longer.

I think by the end of summer, I might be able to squeeze into a 10. I'm EXCITED. Sad though 'cause I've already got 2 pair of shorts that JUST began to fit that I can't wear anymore (would look WEIRD with a belt). Sigh.

Isn't that a great feeling? I've got two pair of shorts I bought in May when I was having a fit because nothing I had would go over my big butt...now they are too big!!!

This is so great. I have recently squeezed into a size 12... I'm hoping another couple weeks and I'll be a comfortable size 12. lol. Congrats on your weight loss! :flowerforyou:

I got those same shorts from Old Navy in 14s and they were a bit on the baggier side now. But I don't mind how they look with a belt. I have a new pair of denim shorts and my denim mini skirt that I've been wearing a lot. Maybe if you wash them and dry them on high it'll shrink them back up again? Also, Old Navy was having a sale on their khaki cotton pants for $19. I'm wearing a pair today, and they come in short. You could get a pair in khaki or black for work.

Good tip on the pants, thanks! Unfortunately, I dry everything on high to begin with... so not much more shrinking will happen. I think with the shorts, I'll just tuck and pin it at the waist. I have some shorts from Target that are made that way and don't look bad so I'm sure I could do the same with these!

That is so great!! I love dresses. Right now dresses don't look that good on me, but as soon as I can, I will start wearing dresses and skirts.

Hon, dresses look good on ANYBODY!!! You just have to find the perfect one for you. Go for an a-line (goes out at the waist) with a cinched waist with ribbing or ruching on the waist ad belly area. You look like you have a great shape and I KNOW you could pull one off.

That is a good and bad problem to have. I have a cute pair of denim shorts that I wore last summer (I was on a health kick then but now I have surpassed myself) and I wore them to the beach yesterday and they were falling off so bad that I went to the car and made myself a belt out of some elastic that I had wrapping a yoga mat. Even still they looked silly and I had to put them in my donation bag. I bought a couple new pairs at the thrift shop but I need to head back and get some more shorts. I never used to wear shorts and now I can't get enough!

That's something I really need to remember to sit down and do. I want to round up some of my clothes that are gently used and too big to take them to the consignment shop near me. They'll pay cash for them, but I don't want to wait until the summer stuff is too out of season and they won't take it. I need to set aside an evening this week for sorting. I know I have a small pile already and I think I can part with some of the size 16 jeans... I'm in a 12 now! haha!

me too!!!! :) i hear the dilemma with pants/shorts being too big...i am round about my goal weight and am slowly rebuilding my closet...its hard to say goodbye to things that you love that are suddenly too big :) like others have said, old navy is great for cute and cheap so you don't have to feel too bad about phasing out quickly! :):):)

Same here! Dresses have been my friend. I don't typically like how shorts look on me, so I only have shorts for exercising and even my recently-purchased, ridiculously-vanity-sized Gap jeans are ending up completely sagging in the butt after about 15 minutes of wear. Not complaining... exactly... but dang! I don't have much money to drop on clothes. And I don't even pay much for clothes!

Gap jeans increase half a size when wearing, according to salespeople that I've talked to. It's best to buy them pretty tight and they'll stretch out to the right size. Kind of annoying if you don't know that info (not like it's on a sign in the store somewhere) and you get jeans that end up being too big. I've been avoiding buying a new pair of jeans from there. I drop sizes too fast for jeans that cost more than $30.

Yeah. I have owned a lot of Gap jeans and I forgot to get them SUPER tight. I pulled these ones off the clearance rack. They were the only size left and I totally didn't expect them to fit at all, much less end up too big for me!

You girls should start some kind of clothing exchange for people dropping sizes this fast. I know they have sites like that for hand bags...you should do something similar with pants, shorts and shirts! Be a great thing for people like us who can't afford a new wardrobe with every 10 pounds lost.

But if you start one up...I get a free or two exchange for giving you the idea!

You could have them altered in the waist. They are always saying on that What Not to Wear...that you should always have your clothes altered. I will be happy to fit into all of my size 12 clothes. I refused to buy size 14, so I only have a handful of pants that fit. I have to go back to work in 4 wks, so I'm praying I can lose enough to wear some more of my clothes.

It would be cheaper to buy new clothes...unless I got my mom to do it - in that case, I'll never get them back. haha

Good for you!!! Buying new clothes in a smaller size is a great feeling! I have been doing the Old Navy route too as well as the clearance racks in Kohls. I can kick myself for getting rid of all of my smaller clothing, literally one year ago, because I was convinced I was holding onto them for no reason and would never fit into them again. I bought all new clothes 2 sizes larger. Now a year later, I have given away all those larger clothes and am mourning the loss of all those cute capris and sundresses that I foolishly donated to goodwill not so long ago. And can't really afford to fully restock my closet so I do it little by little - a pair of pants one week, a couple of shirts the next. It hurts to spend the money but it feels so damn good to be thin again! Congrats again to you for your hard work and success :)

I love wearing cute summer dresses too! Dresses and skirts are not only a staple for people who are losing weight, but on the flip side, when TOM rears its ugly head.... dresses are pretty forgiving ;-)

YES!! I love Kohl's. I just bought 2 really cute flowy tops for $4.80 each and my first pair of serious booty shorts for $12. I had like $4 left on a gift card so I ended up doing really well!! Kohl's always has great sales so they're always on my list and I do it slowly like you have too! I'm wearing the first new thing I bought after losing weight this time - a v-neck strappy tank top... it's seriously baggy. I'm considering sewing the v-neck closed (I USED to be able to fill it out!! lol) and tucking the sides 'cause it's way too cute (and lime green!) to not wear anymore. This is probably my 4th time wearing it.

So true, Lisa!! I love it. The only thing is all my sundresss now have gaps under my arm pits...but darts are easily added and I'll try to do that soon. I may just turn them all into tops 'cause they seriously are getting way too baggy past the waist... I went from having my belly jutting out to feeling like a little girl playing dress up in mommy's closet!!
