"In the study published online in the journal Mayo Clinic Proceedings, men younger than 55 who drank more than 28 cups of coffee a week (four cups a day) were 56% more likely to have died from any cause. Women in that age range had a twofold greater risk of dying than other women. The study looked at 43,727 men and women ages 20-87 from 1971 to 2002."

Death from any cause? What were they more likely to die from? Are they more reckless from caffeine, causing them to drive off a cliff, or is the coffee itself hurting their body some how? Is there another variable at play here? Maybe there is a personality trait or genetic trait that causes people to be more likely to both die early and drink lots of coffee, without the coffee actually causing a chance of early death.

I'm thinking it's a lack of coffee that kills.

In the future, you should link to the actual study, and not the USA today article about the study. I have found that journalists tend to skew or play up results for the wow factor. Thanks for the link though.

Well for me this study is useless as I only drink like 1 cup a month and have never really researched on this. Just shared the info that was shared to me without knowing its authenticity that if its rite might help somebody ..... if it will be wrong then will just be forgotten.

According to the Coffee Assc., the FDA and even Huffpost exactly half of the US population drink coffee and the statistical average is 3 cups a day. I would say that drinking coffee is not exactly a public health risk in the US.
I also tend not to believe much that comes from USAToday.......

Caffeine is an addictive, psycho-active drug. Proceed with caution.

Doesn't mention all the sugar and other crap they put in their coffee.

Those kind of studies are such crap. There are so many factors that can effect those numbers. It is just a correlation and does no equal causation. Maybe most people who drink that much are more likely to have stressful jobs or odd hours. There are all kinds of maybes you can come up with.
