Heart rate/calories in the morning vs evening

Based on what I've read online, it seems as though one's heart rate should be slower in the mornings and higher later in the day. I've found that I seem to be the reverse - my morning exercise gets my heart rate up higher more quickly and I seem to burn more calories. In contrast, my evening exercise is fine but I have to work harder to get my heart rate up. Does anyone else find this? It hasn't affected my weight loss and I'm still happy with my progress to date, I just find it a an interesting/slightly weird quirk.

I have one coffee every morning to wake up... ☕

What exercises are you doing? How are you calculating your burn?

HR has little to do with calorie burn. Whatever device is telling you that you are burning more in the morning is flawed.

It's a Garmin. Cardio in the morning - elliptical or Zumba followed by strength training. I am not particularly fussed about the accuracy of the calorie count - I have lost 30kg this year and am 2kg off goal so the training regimen is working. I just happened to notice a higher heart rate in the morning exercise and found it a little odd is all.

The caffeine could explain the higher a.m. HR.
