Dating profile faux pas?

Those of us who have had the misfortune of online dating can likely attest to the fact that people often put strange things in their profiles. I have seen it all. Some of my favorites are the cliche lines such as: 'my children are my world', 'I'm laid back', or 'not looking for anything too serious'. Another classic move is posting a pic with the ex's face scratched out.

Because nothing says "come hither" like that pic with the ex's face scratched out. :D

I met my husband on a dating website. He used a picture of his iguana Edgar as his profile pic. I thought it was hilarious that he would do that. We were together for 15 years until I lost him to ALS last year. 💟

Now that is cute and I'm so sorry for your loss.

I tend to get passive aggressive in my profiles and by the time I get to the about me section I am starting to wonder what kind of lunatic would want to date me anyway. So I end up with things like "I am not a dumb blond and have been through things that would make your toes curl. Yes, I'm pretty sure I have baggage, but so does everyone. You will come third in my life. If not less. Deal with it. Actually, I'm too busy for this anyway. What was I thinking? Stupid hormones. Brb next month"

Many people thought I was catfishing them when I used to do online dating - I just stopped doing it lol
