Trying to get back in shape

I haven't been fit since high school and haven't been at a reasonable weight since 2004. Weird schedules and kids do that to you I guess. Not even the doctor telling my I had high blood pressure and needed to lose weight did any good. That blood glucose number breaking 100 for the first time ever and a subsequent MRI that they said the word neuropathy changed that.
Two weeks into this new and improved exercise and diet plan and I've lost 6 pounds. Starting Couch to 5k mid-September if the orthopedist okays it. Until then it's 2-3 mile walks in the morning and the elliptical I have under my desk 30-60 minutes a day while I work.
Last time I tried to get back in shape, pre-kids, the running forum on Active.com helped motivate me, hoping to find the same here.

There's something about diabetes or prediabetes that will motivate you like nothing else. That's what happened to me. What kind of elliptical have you got that fits under a desk? I'm always on the lookout for something useful.

It's a Stamina Inmotion Compact Strider I got on Amazon. It's great for when I'm in a conference call that I know I won't have to talk. Just mute myself and spin as long as I can.
