I've ALWAYS been large and struggled with my weight.... About 10 yeays ago I lost 50lb doing weight watches and gain SOOO much confidance, although was down to a size 18, I felt so much lighter. After a divorce, several family deaths, a pregnancy and far too many calories, I went to the doctor to explain how depressed I was with life, got weighed and discovered I was a whopping 317lbs!!!! I am so dissapointed and think the shock has meant I've taken a look at my life and poor diet and decided I HAVE to get down to (at least) 252lbs within the next 6 months, as a start!
After that I hope I can continue and get below 200lbs by the time I'm 40, that's just over a year and I know its a steep hope but I NEED to do it. Xx

Welcome to the community!
If you haven't already, read the stickies at the top of the getting started forum. Very informative and helpful.
Buy a food scale.
Good luck with your journey!0 -
It’s all doable. Losing 100+ lbs saved and transformed my life. I lost about the last 40 lbs on Weight Watchers. WW is basically calorie counting dressed up for copyright protection. As suggested, get a food scale, start a food diary and track everything no matter what. The process is more important than the numbers.
And be careful with attaching the scale to the calendar. Loads of people wreck themselves over the time issue. Don’t be one. I found the most important thing was persistence. Just keep working until you get where you want to be. Good luck.4 -

Welcome to MFP. Best advice is to read the forums, even if you aren’t posting. There are a lot of very well informed people here who often share their knowledge and advice. You can learn a lot from them even when you didn’t know that you had a question.0

The weight CAN be shed. Just don't be too hard on yourself or set extreme goals. I aimed for 2 lbs a week for the first 3 months and one pound a week after that. Attaining each "mini goal" gave me encouragement to continue and attain the next one. I'm down nearly 30 lbs. in 3 months. YOU CAN DO IT!!!0
