Stress Related Gain and or Retention

So here is my question: How much can stress from things like work effect your weight? I know it effects your health/depression/anxiety etc. But I'm wondering...
I work at a place where there is so much hostility between supervisors and employee's that there are day's I find myself in tears just from witnessing it. I don't have to be a part of it. Plus I work in an office and so do they. I sit at my desk in silence for 8hrs a day unless I answer the phone which is never for me. Or if my boss thinks I've done something wrong (which is only the cast 5% of the time) I have worked this job only since December and I have gained 35lbs just since then. I know part of it is from never getting up (not even for a fax) but could it also be stress?
(I do work out a little bit)

Stress and lack of sleep can lead to reduction in self control and over-eating. Stress can temporarily lower your metabolism. Stress didn't put 35 pounds on.
But happily this is a really great tool to track and control food intake. You can take the weight off. Sorry about the work situation. Good luck0 -
"Stress" itself doesn't put on weight, but the other things you mentioned (health/depression/anxiety), can lead to unhealthy choices. I know when I was working at my last job, it was not a great thing. I can't blame it for making me gain weight, but it did not help I worked in a call center and was having throat issues, and my supervisor (at the beginning of everything), didn't care/understand.
Just a couple questions: Do you snack when you sit in silence? Are you drinking anything? Do you do anything differently on your breaks and lunches?
As for your job situation in general, keep you head up, your nose clean, work hard, keep a smile on your face, and if you need a shoulder you can message me
You can do this!0 -
Stress CAN definitely affect your weight... and NOT just "stress eating." I wrote a couple blog posts about it, and I've pasted the links below. I've found that when I'm stressed I eat less and GAIN weight. The weight doesn't come off (even with exercise and strict eating) til I address the problem causing the stress.
