Hashimoto's & a couple other questions

I've posted in a couple of places but ....
I am 48 and have Hashimoto's (hypothyrodism) so getting the weight off I need to seems even harder...anyone have any adjustments they've made to help with this disease?
I put in that I want to lose 1.5 a week. It gave me my calorie intake. When I excercise it's adding more calories I think that is correct as I know you need to eat enough calories to lose weight or it can be counter productive...can someone confirm?
Also, I have my fitbit linked do I still need to log the exercise I do? I do not have a heart rate monitor so it's only tracking steps and time it thinks I am exercizing.

There are some threads about hypothyroidism, so if you put that in the search bar, it should come up.
I have hypothyroidism which is fully controlled by meds and lose weight if i stay in a calorie deficit. Some people do struggle with tiredness and reduced activity, so that can affect appetite.
Regarding excercise calories, you are correct. MFP is designed to keep you in a reasonable deficit, hence eating back workout calories. Many people find the calorie estimates too large and eat back a percentage of this estimate (say 50%). It takes a little experimentation to find our what works for you.
I don't have a Fitbit so can't weigh in on that, but hopefully, someone else will come along.
Good luck on your journey.1
