This Sucks

Hey, mom of two trying to lose a little weight post partum. I hate it, I like ice cream, nothing I seem to do helps, probably because I’m a hormonal mess. Hope y’all are doing well 😂

Hi! MFP has helped me achieve my goals with the calorie count. I’m cheering for you!

    You can do it! 🌺

Nothing you do seems to help???

If you tell us what you have tried to do so far, we could help you get on the right track.

Hi, how far postpartum are you? If you’re within the first 6 months then be kind to yourself! The hormones and lack of sleep can make you feel terrible.
It took me a long time to lose the pregnancy weight, but it wasn’t a huge effort like it would have been soon after giving birth.
I love ice cream and chocolate, and I used to snack far too much in the evenings. I’ve improved on that by saving around 200 calories for a sweet snack every evening. It really helps me to stay on track without feeling deprived.
If your calorie goal is too low to do that, maybe you need to lower your expectations a bit. Losing 2lb a week would be great, but I struggle to stick to that calorie goal and it doesn’t give me enough energy. Mine is now set to 0.5lb per week, which can be frustrating but it’s better than giving up and binging every couple of days!

CICO. That's all. Enjoy your ice cream, as long as it fits in the daily calories calculated by MFP. Relax and take it meal by meal, day by day.

    This!

    With added, it takes time!

Having a new baby is stressful enough, don't stress about losing the weight gained. Set a practical calorie goal, and the weight will come off.

I didn't feel ready to try to lose weight until around 5 months postpartum. Maybe your focus will come eventually? Better sleep and improved mental health (for me) made it a lot easier! I like the advice above about setting an easier goal like .5 lb a week!! Or even maintenance. Better than nothing. I gained 8 lbs in the last 5 months before I turned it around. Postpartum is rough.
