Are exercise calories workouts or walks etc or daily steps through fitbit or a tracker ? Also should you eat any or all of those calories back ?

MFP is designed for you to eat back exercise/activity calories. This means you can eat more on days where you burn more.
The thing to keep in mind is that the calculations that MFP use are general in nature rather than specific to you but they're a great place to start. So with exercise calories perhaps try eating 50% of them back for a few weeks, then based on your results you'll know if you can adjust this up or down to keep satisfied while also getting results.1
