How hungry should I be?!

I think I'm doing this healthily. Change for life, still treating myself etc. but how hungry should I be feeling? I never felt hungry before as I ate all the time so it's a new feeling! Should I eat as soon as I start to feel hungry or is it ok to wait a while. Last night I woke up hungry for the first time ever. Should I up my calories a little? I'm a 5ft 6 female who only needs to loose 6 lbs now and eat 1300 - 1400 a day. Thanks.
