Has anyone tried HCG drops

I’m starting drops next week. I realize that some of you guys don’t support it.
But I’m looking for the people have tried.

Wow I haven't seen this type of thread in a few years. I thought this fad was long gone.
No I've never tried.3 -
Yep. Gained everything and more back after I quit them. This was probably 2006ish?
I didn't learn a sustainable diet change that would serve me the rest of my life.
And they were ridiculously expensive. What I'd give to re-do that fiasco.5 -
The Food and Drug Administration warns against them and says there is no scientific research to prove its claims. That's good enough for me.
Side effects include water retention and blood clots. No thanks.
Why would you do this? All you need to lose weight is to stay in a calorie deficit.0 -
I don't know how long this thread will survive, they tend to disappear/get locked.
Have you tried a healthier approach, like a small calories deficit? I mean, the HCG thing requires you to eat at 500 calories per day or something like that.
Why not eat a nutritious plan and eat enough to lose weight while NOT damaging yourself or spending $$$ on a scam?1 -
Synthetic human pregnancy hormone drops won't do bodiddly for weight loss. Zip. You realize that men take these, too. It makes even less sense for a man to take synthetic human pregnancy drops to lose weight. It's the 500 calorie aday diet that peels the weight off. Dropping it like it's hot. All of the weight comes right back faster than the speed of light when the 500 calorie aday diet is over...with or without the drops. The drops have the placebo effect. You don't need them or the major expense of these shots/drops and mini checkups that go along with them. I know several nurses/office staff who did this together years back. All of them experienced rebound weight gain with friends. Don't do it. It's not a matter of support it's a matter of not falling for slick marketing tricks.
Back in the day when these were really making the rounds...where did that HCG really come from. No one could guarantee their safety from contamination or diseases. That was some spooky multi-cr@p that people didn't even question. They were willing to take anything for weight loss.5 -
I honestly thought that the doctor's had finally backed off this crap since it has been so long since we've seen a thread on it...
I agree with what the posters above say - there are easier, cheaper and safer ways to lose the weight.1 -
Dear Posters,
Our Community Guidelines ( http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/guidelines ) prohibit the creation of any forum posts, groups, or posts in groups that encourage the use of Very Low-Calorie Diets (including, but not limited to, VLCDs that use the HCG protocol).
MyFitnessPal has always promoted a healthy, sustainable, and gradual path to weight loss. But HCG products are typically promoted in connection with a very low-calorie diet, usually one that limits calories to 500 per day. Research has demonstrated that calorie intake at these levels can lead to increased risk of gallstones, hair loss, constipation, an irregular heartbeat, and many other dangerous side-effects.
Moreover, numerous medical studies have shown that the results of HCG-use in combination with a very low-calorie diet are indistinguishable from the results of the low-calorie diet alone. In light of this research, the FDA has required the labeling and advertising of HCG products to state:
“HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or “normal” distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.”
Respectfully,
Nova
