Macros Question

I've searched for an answer and haven't really found one, so I'm asking you folks what YOU do when you're watching your macros in addition to your calories? If you follow a 40/40/20 or 40/30/30, when you're looking at your carbs, do you count your carbs as carbs, or do you count your carbs as carbs - fiber?? I'm having a hard time getting my macros in line and some have been to my own darn fault with dumb things like frozen yogurt or wine or both in the case of last night, but even on my BEST days, I have a hard time keeping my carbs at 40% alone. My goal is to really tone up and change my composition, so I am trying to follow a 40/40/20 as best as possible on most days. I'm just curious as to how everyone else calculates their carbs and maybe some helpful information you've read. Hope this makes sense...I'm still on coffee cup #1
