Any JRE fans, or anyone interested in doing a sober October challenge?
The rules of Sober October is simple: stay sober. 31 days of clean diary entries of MFP. No alcohol, no pot - all October. Coffee is fine, let's not be psychopaths:)
Add me as a friend and let's keep ourselves accountable and encourage each other.

Thanks for the link - nice to see this exists in some form in the MFP community already and that is a great list of resources.
I would like to take it one step further and do this Sober October in the same style as on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and completely restrict all alcohol and marijuana.
For myself personally, I don't think I have gone 31 consecutive days without a drink in some form in more than 10 years. Looking forward to the challenge and hopefully there will be some takers in the same boat!9 -
I can't think of the last time I had a drink, so won't be joining you, but am offering support
I found just a few Smart Recovery and Rational Recovery meetings extremely helpful. These are cognitive behavioral therapy based. I believe RR no longer offers in person meetings, but has online resources.
SR has both local and online meetings: https://www.smartrecoverytest.org/local/
I also went to lots and lots of AA and NA meetings, mostly with friends or family. I didn't find the 12 step model particularly helpful for me, but many swear by it.
However, statistics show the majority of problem drinkers do just quit, or enter "spontaneous remission" on their own.
I self medicate with exercise these days.4 -

Just so you know, that's about as funny as giving an obese person a set of scales for a joke.

This is a nice idea for a thread.
I'm glad to see this in here.
I started February Fast on January 31 2018, and haven't drunk alcohol since. (See the Challenges forum thread posted earlier.)
These month-long challenges are great - so long as you don't go back to drinking every day straight after.
I might be popping in to cheer you on. All the best!!
NOT drinking is a really lovely treat for yourself!4 -
I’d like to give it a go.3

I stopped back in June as Doc recommended not to with medication. Was drinking a couple beer almost every evening.
First week is the hardest, then it gets easier3 -
I don’t really drink but I’d like to stop smoking weed. I’m in.4
