Looking for comfort

I volunteered to fill in for a friend while she went on vacation. It more than doubled my workload and I found myself just trying to stay in the day and take it one step at a time until the end of the week. I tried to take care of myself and put what commitments off that I could until next week and lighten my personal workload until she got back. I found myself looking for comfort, a release. I wound up finding that release in food. I feel like I was in survival mode. I didn’t go crazy, just overindulged a couple days. I say I am not upset with myself but in reality, I am disappointed in myself for doing it.

Everybody falls off the wagon once in a while. Don't beat yourself up about it.
Just dust yourself off, get a good night's sleep and start fresh tomorrow as if nothing happened.
Also, kudos to getting through a hard week.12 -
Food has multiple purposes. It fuels our bodies, but it also has social and emotional purposes. Sometimes we eat for nutrition, sometimes we eat to feel happy or comforted. There’s nothing wrong with that and no reason to feel disappointed. You were giving your body and brain what you needed at the time for your mental health. Now you can get back to eating the way you want to eat, and use the experience to think about how you want to address those mental health needs in the future.6

I wish you weren't disappointed in yourself. It is human nature to find comfort. Sometimes you just have to hit pause. Now it's time to reset and get back to it. I hope that your schedule settles soon!!3

Life happens. You'd be hard pressed to find a member here who hasn't experienced the same.
Forgive yourself, take a deep breath and move past it. 💙3 -
Thank you all so much. Today I rested, will tomorrow too. I craved protein and veggies so I obliged myself. I am going to bed early to get ample sleep. Thanks so much for your support.5
