Exercise after spinal fusion

Hi. My spouse is skinny fat and he hates it. He would love to have more muscle and be more defined. He thinks that he can't do that because he had a spinal fusion 6 years ago. I know he should consult a doctor before doing anything but does anyone have any stories I can show him that it is possible? Thanks

Yes people have and there was a thread in General Health a couple weeks ago. But of course it depends on the procedure done and what accompanying issues there may still be. Does your husband WANT to exercise and truly thinks he can’t or does he just not want to be active and uses this as an excuse?

I have a genetic cervical spinal fusion. It means that I have limited range of motion but I can do whatever I want within that range.

I agree that, if your husband wants to exercise, he should consult his surgeon or an orthopedist.

@LyndaBSS , i was wondering about your spinal fusion. May i ask, how long ago did you have it, which levels were fused, what's ended up being your limitations of a range of motion? If you don't mind... The reason I ask, i just had mine a week ago, still in a hard collar, full of worries and questions. And sceptical about my doctor's promised prognosis, so trying to hear as much of a real life experiences. Thank you!

@icemom011 Mine is genetic, I was born with it, so it's been my "normal" all my life. I'm sorry I can't help with your questions.
