Warming up with Weights

Before I do any cardio I lift weights or use resistance bands and sometimes I may complete my entire strength routine. I found that this allows me to get through my cardio easier. If I do cardio first, I feel so sluggish and can barely finish it. Just wondering because most of the exercise videos I have done start out with light cardio even P90X Chest and Back (jog in place). I have managed to lose weight and tone up, but I am wondering if I am hindering my progress because I am not getting my heart rate up for 5 minutes before I start to lift, and I am probably over thinking this.
